From D-Day to the end of war, No 126 Wing was the most successful fighter group in the 2nd Tactical Air Force, claiming an incredible 336 enemy aircraft destroyed. Its mission was to carry out air-to-air combat and ground sorties in direct support of the British and Canadian armies during the campaign to liberate Europe.
