Battlefield Mysteries Ep.2: Bandits of the Air, Intruder Missions

WW2 Canadian pilot Russ Bannock recalls his Intruder missions flying the de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito. The Intruder is tasked with penetrating deep into enemy air space, spearheading special operations, to take advantage of the cover provided by night-time and meteorological conditions, to loiter in the vicinity of enemy airfields and attack aircraft as they take off or land. The agile and wily Mosquito was a perfect fit for Intruder missions and incredibly it was made of wood. The Mosquito became known as the “wooden wonder” as it stalked enemy forces in the skies over occupied Europe.
